The Costa degli Dei follows the Tyrrhenian shore of Vibo Valentia province from Pizzo to Nicotera. Sandy beaches alternate with high cliffs, small bays and protected seabeds, while Stromboli and the Aeolian Islands appear on the horizon. Pizzo, Tropea, Zambrone and Capo Vaticano are the best-known stops, but inland villages and Nicotera reveal a coast shaped by castles, shrines, watchtowers, local food and sunsets over the sea.

For a first trip, plan the route by area instead of packing too many stops into one day. Pizzo and Tropea combine historic centres with beaches; Zambrone and Capo Vaticano suit travellers looking for coves, snorkelling and boat trips; Nicotera has a slower pace and a long shoreline. When to go and how to travel

June, September and early autumn often make it easier to enjoy both villages and beaches at a quieter pace. In July and August, plan parking and transfers early in the day, especially around Tropea and Capo Vaticano. A car is the most flexible way to combine the coast with inland towns; check trains and local transport for the exact date of your trip.
