On Monday 21 December 2026 at 9 pm, Teatro Cilea in Reggio Calabria hosts “Freddie – The Show Must Go On”, a music show whose title points to Freddie Mercury and one of Queen's best-known songs. The show and what is known so far

“Freddie – The Show Must Go On” carries the name of Freddie Mercury and the title of one of Queen's best-known songs, and its poster shows a performer dressed as the singer at the piano. TicketOne lists it as a music event and, among similar artists, names for example Queen at The Opera.

The organiser is Produzioneventi, a company based in San Giovanni La Punta, in the province of Catania. The cast, set list and running time have not been published on the ticketing channels. The show has already toured in recent months: TicketOne carries sixty audience reviews, averaging 4.7 out of 5, from the performances at the Teatro Comunale in Crotone in late May and early June 2026.

Monday 21 December: two different shows at the Cilea

The show takes place on Monday 21 December 2026 at 9 pm at Teatro Cilea. On the same day the theatre hosts two different shows: at 6 pm K-Pop Dream – Missione Natale, a Christmas musical inspired by K-pop, and at 9 pm Freddie – The Show Must Go On. They are separate productions with separate tickets, both organised by Produzioneventi.

The Reggio date is the fourth of the winter tour, which opens on 14 November in Bari and visits Catania, Villaggio Mosè (Agrigento), Caltanissetta, Cagliari, Arzachena, Palermo and Lecce before closing on 9 January 2027 in Syracuse. In the TicketOne calendar, Reggio is the only date in Calabria.

Teatro Cilea

The municipal Teatro Francesco Cilea is named after the composer born in Palmi and is the main theatre in Reggio Calabria, with around 1,500 seats. Opened in 1931, as part of the rebuilding that followed the 1908 earthquake, it has a horseshoe-shaped auditorium with three tiers of boxes and an upper gallery, renovated in the 1960s. The city council notes that its stage has hosted names such as Maria Callas and Luciano Pavarotti.

The north wing of the building houses the Pinacoteca Civica, Reggio Calabria's municipal art gallery. According to the council, the theatre is accessible to people with disabilities.

The theatre stands at Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi 325, the main street of central Reggio Calabria, opposite Palazzo San Giorgio, the city hall. The seafront promenade is a short walk away, and the Corso is a pleasant place for a stroll before the show.
