Waves – Mobile Theatre for Southern Reggio Calabria

From 18 to 26 September 2026, Reggio Calabria Sud will become a city-wide stage with ‘Waves – Teatro Mobile per Reggio Calabria Sud’, a project forming part of the Reggio Fest 2026 – Popular Culture programme. For nine days, shows and performances will take place across various locations throughout the city, bringing theatre out of traditional venues and into squares, churches, beaches, parks and neighbourhoods. A journey that invites the public to experience the local area through the language of the stage, connecting communities, memory and places.

Event details

The programme kicks off on Friday 18 September with “The Invisible Man”, at 5.00 pm at Da HUB Famiglia Reggio Calabria, in Piazzale Botteghelle, and with “Endgame”, at 9.00 pm in Piazza Milano. On Saturday 19 September, at 7.00 pm, ‘Tempesta – variazioni da Shakespeare’ will be staged in Piazzetta on Via Galileo Galilei. On Sunday 20 September, the programme features ‘Morte di un’orca’ at 11.00 am at Parco Lineare Sud (formerly Capannina), and ‘Condominium’ at 9.00 pm in Piazza Milano. On Monday 21 September, “Amore e psiche” is scheduled for 10.30 am at the ITE R. Piria/Ferraris/Da Empoli, and “In nome della madre” at 7.30 pm in the Church of San Francesco. On Tuesday 22 September, at 7.30 pm, the sports pitches on Viale Pio XI will host “Sono morto da poco”. On Wednesday 23 September, at 9.00 pm in Piazza Leopoldo Trieste, “The Rape of Lucretia” is scheduled. On Thursday 24 September, at 7.30 pm, the Church of Santa Maria d’Itria will host “Apocalisse a Reggio Calabria Sud”, whilst at 9.00 pm, on La Sorgente Beach, “Fino al cuore di tenebra” will be staged. On Friday 25 September, at 5.00 pm, Villa Gullì in Via Gebbione will host ‘The Impossible Time of Hamlet’, whilst at 9.00 pm, the public gathering at the Casa dei Pescatori in Parco Lineare Sud will feature ‘In Splendid Form – Scottish Variations’. The festival concludes on Saturday 26 September at 7.00 pm in Piazza Fontana di Ravagnese with “The End – Final Event”.
