Bria Fest in Gerace

On 26 and 27 September 2026, Gerace will take part in the Bria Fest – Byzantine Route with two days dedicated to Byzantine heritage, featuring special openings, guided tours and hands-on activities. From 10.00 to 18.00, visitors will be able to explore some of the town’s main Byzantine sites, starting with the Churches of San Giovannello and dell’Annunziatella, to gain a closer insight into artefacts that recount a significant part of the town’s religious and cultural history.
Event details
In the afternoon, from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm, the programme also includes a visit to the immersive exhibition space dedicated to Calabria’s Byzantine heritage, designed to explore this important chapter in the region’s history through an engaging experience. The programme is rounded off by two workshops focusing on traditional crafts: ‘Byzantine Reflections’, centred on goldsmithing, and ‘At the Village Loom’, dedicated to weaving.
