From 24 October to 28 December 2026, Synergia 51, the season of the Amici della Musica «Nicola Antonio Manfroce» association of Palmi run with AMA Calabria, moves to the Teatro Comunale of Oppido Mamertina, on Via Cavour, with a return shuttle service from Palmi. Seven shows at 6:30 pm, six on Saturdays and one on Monday 28 December: flamenco with «De Pasión y de Música» by the Flamenco Algeciras company, the Roma Jazz Quintet, Trio Felix, FlirTango's tango between Piazzolla and tradition, the guitars of «Locura de Guitarras», pianist Roberto Cappello and «The Soul of Christmas» with Mario Donatone & Bluesman Latino. Synergia 51: the season of Palmi's Amici della Musica moves to Oppido

Synergia is the name under which the Amici della Musica «Nicola Antonio Manfroce» association of Palmi presents its seasons, chosen as a reminder that its work goes beyond music to include theatre, dance and live performance. The association has been organising concerts since 1975 and celebrated its first fifty seasons in autumn 2025: Synergia 51 opens its second half-century and is run in partnership with AMA Calabria.

In Palmi the season has always taken place between the auditorium of the Casa della Cultura «Leonida Repaci» and the municipal Teatro «N. A. Manfroce», where part of the false ceiling gave way on 1 February 2026. For autumn 2026 the Amici della Musica chose not to stop: «Theatre in Palmi doesn't stop, it just moves a little». The seven shows are staged at the Teatro Comunale of Oppido Mamertina, together with the A.I.D.A. project and the Municipality of Oppido Mamertina, with shuttles from Palmi.

Every show starts at 6:30 pm. For 24 October the association's website gives an end time of around 8 pm.

October: flamenco with «De Pasión y de Música» and the Roma Jazz Quintet's swing

On Saturday 24 October the Flamenco Algeciras company opens the season with «De Pasión y de Música», a noche flamenca conceived, choreographed and directed by Francisca Berton, who also dances as solo bailaora. On stage are Sergio Varcasia and Matin Kashanaki on guitar, Ana Rita Rosarillo singing cante flamenco, Paolo Monaldi on percussion, Marica Pugliese dancing and Erica Bianco as actress.

On Saturday 31 October the Roma Jazz Quintet presents «Lo swing tra America e Italia», a programme comparing American and Italian swing. The quintet features Sara Schettini on vocals and Franco Cirillo on sax, with piano, Christian Antinozzi on double bass and Alfredo Romeo on drums.

November: Trio Felix and FlirTango's tango

On Saturday 14 November Trio Felix, with soprano Marilena Gaudio, Gianni Ciliberti on clarinet and Flavio Peconio on piano, performs «Dal Lied alla canzone»: a journey that starts from the Lied, the German art song tradition, and arrives at popular song.

On Saturday 21 November the FlirTango group brings «Piazzolla versus traditional tango», setting traditional tango against Astor Piazzolla's nuevo tango. Irene Rizzo plays piano, Carla Mulas Gonzales violin, Natalia Meyer sings and plays bass and Mariano Navone plays bandoneón; Navone also dances, with Tiziana Arina, as the evening's Argentine dance couple.

December: Locura de Guitarras, Roberto Cappello and a soul Christmas

On Saturday 5 December Riccardo Ascani and Roberto Ippoliti, with Simona Altieri, present «Locura de Guitarras – Musica e danza d'autore». The title means «guitar madness»: the duo plays flamenco jazz and in concert alternates original pieces by Ascani with music by Paco de Lucía, Chick Corea and the Gipsy Kings arranged in flamenco style.

On Saturday 19 December it is the turn of pianist Roberto Cappello, whom the Amici della Musica already hosted in Palmi on 18 October 2025 for their fiftieth anniversary. Born in 1951 in Campi Salentina, Cappello won first prize at the «Ferruccio Busoni» International Piano Competition in Bolzano in 1976. The programme dedicates the evening with the words «Let's celebrate 50 years of concerts together!».

On Monday 28 December the season closes with «The Soul of Christmas» by Mario Donatone & Bluesman Latino in vocal-set line-up, with singer Claudia Marss as special guest. Bluesman Latino is the project in which Donatone, on vocals and piano, blends blues and soul with Mediterranean and Latin sounds.

The Teatro Comunale of Oppido Mamertina and how to get there

The Teatro Comunale of Oppido Mamertina, also known as the municipal Cinema-Teatro, is on Via Cavour, near the primary school. It reopened on 17 January 2026 after about ten years of inactivity, thanks to a cooperation pact signed in February 2025 between the Municipality and the associations of the A.I.D.A. project, the work of volunteers and craftsmen, and a fundraising campaign. In the following months it hosted, among others, Annalisa Insardà's show «Parole Femmine» and a recital by pianist Antonio Morabito.

Oppido Mamertina is an inland town of the Gioia Tauro plain, on the Tyrrhenian side of the Aspromonte, and the seat of the diocese of Oppido Mamertina-Palmi. Coming from Palmi, you can leave the car and take the season's shuttle. Before the concert, take a walk through the town centre, rebuilt on a regular grid after the 1783 earthquake, up to the Cathedral.
