Piazza Matteotti · Gioia Tauro, Costa Viola, Calabria

13 August 2026

Luchè performs in Gioia Tauro on Thursday 13 August 2026 at 10 pm in Piazza Matteotti, for the patronal feast of Sant'Ippolito. The concert is promoted by the municipality of Gioia Tauro with Diecielode management and entry is free, as stated on the official poster. The Neapolitan rapper — born Luca Imprudente and raised in the Marianella district — is one of the most recognised figures in Italian rap: in 1997 he founded Co'Sang with Ntò, went solo from 2012 and in 2022 reached number one on the FIMI chart with «Dove volano le aquile». In 2026 he is competing at the Sanremo Festival with «Labirinto». His date replaces the Fedez concert announced for the same evening in the same square, cancelled on 27 July along with the artist's entire summer tour for health reasons. It is the biggest event of the «Gioia d'Estate 2026» programme.

The concert: 13 August, 10 pm, Piazza Matteotti

Luchè takes the stage in Piazza Matteotti in Gioia Tauro on Thursday 13 August 2026 at 10 pm. The concert is promoted by the municipality of Gioia Tauro, with Diecielode management, and is part of the celebrations for the patronal feast of Sant'Ippolito.

Entry is free and the official poster states it explicitly: there are no tickets to buy and no advance sales, you arrive at the square and walk in. It is the flagship event of the city's summer programme «Gioia d'Estate 2026», which runs from late July into September.

Who Luchè is

Luchè is the stage name of Luca Imprudente, a rapper and record producer born in Naples on 7 January 1981. He grew up in Marianella, a district on the edge of Scampia, Piscinola and Chiaiano, and that background has remained a recognisable trait of his writing.

He started in 1997 with his friend Ntò: together they founded Co'Sang, one of the projects that defined Neapolitan-language rap, debuting with the track «Paura». The group split in 2012, and his solo career began from there.

The step up in scale came in 2022 with «Dove volano le aquile», his first album released with Columbia Records: sixteen tracks, a debut at number one on the FIMI chart and heavyweight features, from «Le pietre non volano» with Marracash to «Over» with Geolier and «D10S» with Elisa. In 2024 Luchè and Ntò announced the live return of Co'Sang twelve years after the split, accompanied by the album DINASTIA.

In recent years he has taken his music into arenas with the «Luchè Arena Tour», selling out the Unipol Forum in Milan. In 2026 he is competing at the Sanremo Festival with the song «Labirinto», after almost thirty years of career.

Why Luchè instead of Fedez

The 13 August date in Piazza Matteotti had been announced months earlier with a different name: Fedez, presented as the headline guest of «Gioia d'Estate 2026».

On 27 July 2026 the artist cancelled his entire summer tour and his September dates, following a hospital stay and on medical advice, for a period of treatment and recovery. The Gioia Tauro concert was among those cancelled.

The municipality then replaced the date with Luchè, keeping the same day, the same square, the same time and the free-entry format. If you have arrived here looking for the Fedez concert in Gioia Tauro: that date will not take place, but the evening of 13 August in Piazza Matteotti is going ahead.

The patronal feast of Sant'Ippolito

The concert is not an isolated event: it is the closing moment of the most important day of the year for Gioia Tauro, the one dedicated to its patron saint Sant'Ippolito, celebrated on 13 August.

As in the tradition of Calabrian patronal feasts, the civil part of the celebration follows the religious one: the concert in the square begins at 10 pm, after the ceremonies and the mass. It is the night when the city is at its fullest, with those who emigrated coming home for the occasion and the towns of the plain converging on the centre.

That also explains the choice of free entry: this is not a ticketed concert but a community event, paid for by the municipal administration as part of the celebrations.

The rest of Gioia d'Estate 2026

The 13 August concert is the centrepiece of a long programme. «Gioia d'Estate 2026» runs across the whole city summer with concerts, food festivals, cultural events and patronal celebrations: the announced names also include Cristiano Malgioglio and Mimmo Cavallaro, alongside the Fish Festival and the events tied to struncatura pasta.

The full, updated programme is on the Gioia d'Estate 2026 page. Other events in the area are in the events section.

Getting there and planning ahead

Gioia Tauro is reached by car from its own exit on the A2 motorway and is served by a railway station on the Tyrrhenian line, one of the main ones in the plain. Piazza Matteotti is in the city centre.

On the night of the patron saint the central streets are closed to traffic and parking fills up early: it is worth arriving well before 10 pm and leaving the car outside the central area. As this is a free concert in a square, there are no assigned seats: those who arrive first stand at the front.

For dinner before the concert you can see where to eat in Gioia Tauro and the other businesses in the city. If you are staying a few days on the coast there are holiday homes in the area.
