On 8 August 2026, at 9.00 pm, Mongiana will host “The Dream of Mongiana”, a theatrical performance dedicated to the history of the Royal Ironworks and Workshops of Mongiana, one of Calabria ’s most significant industrial centres between the 18th and 19th centuries. The show, presented by Luoghi dell’Arte Formazione S.r.l., offers a theatrical narrative that traces the history of the ironworks, founded in 1770 and which, over time, became a major steel-producing centre in southern Italy. Through the language of theatre, the event invites the audience to rediscover a significant chapter in Calabria’s history, linked to the region’s labour, ingenuity and productive capacity.

Event details

The performance will take place at the MuFar Conference Hall, in Piazza Regina Elena, right in the heart of Mongiana, a place that symbolises this industrial and cultural history. “The Dream of Mongiana” forms part of the theatre project ‘Le 5 giornate per Mongiana’, a series of five events dedicated to celebrating the memory of the ironworks and the historical heritage of the Calabrian Serre. Following the first stop in Mongiana, the narrative will continue in Monasterace (10 August), Stilo (11 August), Pazzano (12 August) and Bivongi (14 August).
