From Flour to Plate

On 8 August 2026, Bagaladi will host the second edition of “From Flour to Plate – Maccherone Day”, an event dedicated to traditional cuisine and the knowledge passed down through the generations. The event, organised by Pro Loco Bagaladi, focuses on one of the most authentic aspects of the local culinary tradition: the preparation of handmade maccheroni “cu cannici”, made using an ancient technique preserved by the local master pasta-makers.

Event details

From 8.00 am, in Piazza della Libertà, residents and visitors will be able to take part in a communal event open to all, literally getting their hands dirty and rediscovering the value of a tradition that combines craftsmanship, family heritage and Calabrian identity. From 9.00 pm, the food and wine stall will open, offering tastings of maccheroni prepared in the traditional way, served with goat’s meat sauce or aubergine sauce. The evening will be accompanied by a musical performance by Giovanni Tripodi, with a special guest appearance by Gaetano Sapone, taking the audience on a journey through Calabrian folk music, filled with rhythm, conviviality and popular culture.
