Voices from the Badlands

Cutro · Cutro, Costa Viola, Calabria

10 August 2026

On 10 August 2026, in the hamlet of Le Forche in Cutro, “Voices from the Badlands” returns – a free festival dedicated to the convergence of nature, art, memory and community. Now in its fifth year, the festival transforms the landscape of the Calanchi del Marchesato into a space to explore, listen to and share. Sound walks, theatre, photography, art installations, Mediterranean and electronic music, and a sense of community accompany the audience on an immersive journey through natural forms, local stories and contemporary expressions.

Event details

The programme kicks off in the afternoon with Calanchi Trek & Theatre, a walk to the ponds below Timpone San Francesco, enriched by a talk from geologist Antonio Giulio Cosentino on ‘Geofanie: imaginary geographies and territories’ and a live excerpt from Carlo Gallo’s ‘La nascita del cunto’. The evening continues with a concert by Stefano Saletti and Banda Ikona, a musical project that explores the sounds and cultures of the Mediterranean, and with a site-specific DJ set and VJing performance by Eva Geist and Antonio Martino, designed to engage with the landscape. The festival will also feature the art exhibitions “Sciolle” by Giovanni Manfreda, “Madre Terra” by Angela De Lorenzo and “Dis-Antropìa” by Mammarulla.
