The Pumpkin Garden: four autumn Sundays in Gallico

PumpkinLand – Il Giardino delle Zucche bills itself as Reggio Calabria's pumpkin patch: a field of pumpkins where families choose and pick their own pumpkin and then decorate it. For its fourth edition it returns to E-Koru Village in Gallico Superiore, in the north of the city, every Sunday in October 2026: the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.

The poster's slogan, “Carve and paint your dreams”, sums up the main activity: once picked, the pumpkin is carved and painted. Pompieropoli: Sunday 18 October with the fire brigade

On Sunday 18 October, from 4pm to 7pm, PumpkinLand hosts Pompieropoli, an afternoon designed to turn children into “little firefighters for a day”. It is aimed at children aged 3 to 12, who are promised an afternoon of adventure with the Vigili del Fuoco, Italy's fire service, as the poster puts it.

At the end every child receives a junior firefighter certificate. The poster carries the logo of the Reggio Calabria fire service alongside the PumpkinLand logo. From the first edition in Catona to E-Koru Village

E-Koru Village is a sports and leisure centre that opened on 31 July 2025 on Via Anita Garibaldi. Getting to E-Koru Village in Gallico Superiore

E-Koru Village is at Via Anita Garibaldi 347, Gallico Superiore (postcode 89135), the hillside part of Gallico in the north of Reggio Calabria. By car, take the A2 motorway branch into Reggio Calabria and leave at the “Reggio Calabria Gallico” junction; the sports centre is a short distance from the motorway. Gallico Superiore spreads along Via Casa Savoia, Via Trapani Lombardo and Via Anita Garibaldi itself, while the SS18 main road, known as Via Nazionale, runs through the lower part of the district.

By train, the stop to use is Reggio Calabria Gallico on the southern Tyrrhenian line. The railway runs between the seafront and the hill, so from the station you need to head uphill to Gallico Superiore. The sources do not mention dedicated parking.

Gallico, between the Strait and the hills

Gallico is a district of Reggio Calabria's ninth borough, with about 15,700 residents in 2010: it is made up of Gallico Marina, facing the Strait of Messina, and Gallico Superiore on the hill.
