On 17 and 18 August 2026, the charming village of Bivongi, in the province of Reggio Calabria, will host the 30th edition of the Mercato della Badia, an event that has been celebrating Calabrian craftsmanship, food and wine, and traditional culture for three decades. The event will kick off on Monday 17 August at 6.30 pm with the opening of the craft and food and wine stalls, marking the start of two evenings dedicated to traditions, flavours and creativity in the heart of Bivongi.

Event details

On the first day, the village streets will come alive with a packed programme of events: street artists, travelling shows, stilt walkers, fire performances and live music will accompany visitors along the festival route. In Piazza del Popolo, there will also be something for families, with bouncy castles, entertainment and activities for children, whilst in the evening the festivities will continue with the Fiesta Loca in Piazza Duomo. On Tuesday 18 August, the Mercato della Badia will resume at 4.00 pm with the opening of themed workshops, dedicated to rediscovering ancient trades, artisan skills and local traditions. From 6.00 pm, the stalls showcasing the region’s finest food and craft products will once again take centre stage. The event is a unique opportunity to discover local crafts, taste typical Calabrian products, and enjoy a weekend of popular culture and local traditions. [gallery]
