From January to April 2027 the Teatro Francesco Cilea in Reggio Calabria presents «Le Maschere e i Volti», its new theatre season, under the artistic and organisational direction of Lillo Chilà and Luciano Pensabene. The programme is built for different audiences and runs through musicals, auteur drama, comedy, dance, live music and tributes to the great Italian repertoires. Four months of programming that cover the whole Reggio winter and reach into spring, confirming the Cilea as the central venue of the city's cultural life.

From January to April 2027, the Cilea's new season

From January to April 2027 the Teatro Francesco Cilea in Reggio Calabria presents «Le Maschere e i Volti», its new theatre season, under the artistic and organisational direction of Lillo Chilà and Luciano Pensabene. The programme is built for different audiences and runs through musicals, auteur drama, comedy, dance, live music and tributes to the great Italian repertoires: four months covering the whole Reggio winter and reaching into spring.

January opens with family theatre and auteur drama

The season opens on 3 January with La vera storia di Topo Gigio – Il Musical, a family show with the voice of Leo Valli, music by Franco Fasano and direction by Maurizio Colombi. The following day brings I Fratelli De Filippo, drawn from Maurizio Giammusso's book «Vita di Eduardo», with Sergio Rubini and music by Nicola Piovani. On 13 January comes Deledda – Cenere e le canzoni della rivoluzione silenziosa and on 16 January L'Esclusa, after Pirandello, with Debora Caprioglio and Stefano Masciarelli.

February: Eduardo, De André and a landmark musical comedy

On 3 February comes Il Sindaco del Rione Sanità by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by and starring Geppy Gleijeses. On 13 February it is the turn of Sidùn – A tribute to Fabrizio De André. From 19 to 21 February the theatre hosts three nights of Aggiungi un posto a tavola, the musical comedy by Garinei and Giovannini with Giovanni Scifoni and Lorella Cuccarini, in the edition marking the show's fiftieth anniversary.

March: musical, jazz and comedy

From 5 to 7 March, three evenings of Gloria – Il Musical, devoted to Umberto Tozzi's repertoire and under his musical direction. On 14 March La Grande Opera in Jazz brings Danilo Rea and Le Stelle del Canto to the stage, with jazz piano in dialogue with rare recordings by Caruso, Callas and Tito Schipa. On 23 March the month closes with Benvenuti in casa Esposito.

April: the closing run

On 8 April, Fiat Voluntas Dei, a comedy by Giuseppe Macrì starring Enrico Guarneri. From 15 to 17 April, three evenings of Frida Opera Musical, devoted to Frida Kahlo. Closing the season on 26 April is Vasame – L'amore è rivoluzionario with Marisa Laurito and Enzo Gragnaniello.
