Autumn Festival in Delianuova 2026
Piazza Guglielmo Marconi · Delianuova, Costa Viola, Calabria
24 October 2026 – 31 October 2026
Delianuova, on the slopes of the Aspromonte mountains, devotes two evenings to its Festa d'Autunno (Autumn Festival): Saturday 24 and Saturday 31 October 2026, from 6pm, in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, the square in front of the town hall. The programme announced on the poster brings together local produce, live music, activities for children and street performers. The event carries the logos of the Calabria Region and Calabria Straordinaria next to the town's coat of arms and is funded through the national Cohesion Action Plan. The sources mention no entrance ticket: it is an outdoor festival in the square. Musicians and producers have not been named yet; for information call the town hall on +39 0966 963004.
Two autumn Saturdays in Piazza Marconi
Delianuova's Autumn Festival is split into two evenings: Saturday 24 October and Saturday 31 October 2026, both starting at 6pm. The venue is Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, the square overlooked by the town hall. It is a community festival aimed at families, residents and visitors, with the flavours of the season at its centre.
Alongside the town's coat of arms, the poster carries the logos of the Calabria Region, Calabria Straordinaria, the European Union and the Italian Republic, plus the brand of the Cohesion Action Plan (Piano di azione e coesione): according to the small print, the project is funded with POC resources under action 6.8.3. The festival is also listed in Calabria Straordinaria's regional events calendar.
What is on the programme
The announced programme has four strands, the same on both evenings: local produce, live music, activities for children and street performers. The official description presents it as an event designed to involve families, visitors and passers-by, built around local flavours and community life.
As of 20 October, the names of the musicians, street performers and producers taking part had not been published, nor had a menu or price list for the stands. The Delianuova area, with its olive groves and chestnut and holm oak woods, is known for olive oil and, in autumn, for chestnuts and woodland mushrooms such as porcini and Caesar's mushrooms; which products will actually be on sale, however, has not been announced.
Admission, times and useful information
The sources mention no entrance ticket: the festival takes place outdoors, in the square. Prices or arrangements for tasting the local produce have not been published. For information you can contact the town hall of Delianuova on +39 0966 963004.
Delianuova lies between 600 and 800 metres above sea level and has a mountain climate: in late October, after sunset, it is noticeably colder than on the coast, so bring a warm layer. The clocks also change between the two evenings: daylight saving time ends on Sunday 25 October, and on the 31st the sun will already have set by 6pm.
How to get to Delianuova
Delianuova sits on the Tyrrhenian side of the Aspromonte and is crossed by the former SS112 d'Aspromonte, now provincial road SP2. The road leaves the SS18 near Bagnara Calabra and climbs inland through Sant'Eufemia d'Aspromonte, Sinopoli and Cosoleto; beyond Delianuova it continues through Scido, Santa Cristina d'Aspromonte and Platì down to Bovalino on the Ionian coast. From the A2 motorway, the exit for this route is Bagnara Calabra.
From the Brandano junction near the village, the former SS183 climbs to Gambarie. These are winding mountain roads, so allow extra time in the evening. The sources do not mention dedicated parking or shuttle buses.
Delianuova, the village of green stone
Delianuova has about 3,000 inhabitants and was created on 27 January 1878 by merging two neighbouring villages, Paracorio and Pedavoli: their main churches, Maria Santissima Assunta in Paracorio and San Nicola in Pedavoli, are still the two parishes of the town. Delianuova is known for its pietra verde (green stone), quarried until 1933 in the Cotripa district and carved by local stonemasons into doorways, balcony brackets and fountains.
Since 9 August 2025 the Via della Pietra Verde, a walking route, links these works: seventeen carved doorways, three fountains, balcony brackets and two staircases. Highlights include the 17th-century doorway of Casa Faraone and the Fontana con Mascherone (mask fountain) of 1768. If you arrive a little before 6pm, you can walk it before heading to the square.
Nearby: the Piani di Carmelia and the Aspromonte
About nine kilometres from the village, at 1,324 metres, lie the Piani di Carmelia, an area of Calabrian pine forest popular for mountain outings, with the small church of Maria Santissima della Salute. Above 1,400 metres the pines give way to beech and silver fir.
In autumn the woods around Delianuova, with chestnut, holm oak and beech, are mushroom country: picking is regulated by regional rules and requires the relevant permits, so check before you go. Along the former SS183 you reach Gambarie, the main tourist resort of the Aspromonte. For other events in the province during the same weeks, see the events calendar.
