On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the Path of Friendship returns for its fourth edition. The day’s itinerary leads to Pietra Cappa, in the Aspromonte landscape, with a program that combines a nature hike with an exploration of local culture. The theme chosen for this edition, “The Strength of Women in Service to the Region”, highlights women’s contributions to the preservation and transmission of mountain-related knowledge. The hike begins at 9:00 a.m. from Piazza Dante Alighieri, in the Tre Fontane area of San Luca. At 9:30 a.m., participants will gather in Piazza Chiesa Vecchia in Natile, followed by arrival at the Castle of San Giorgio.

Event details

From there, the group will continue toward Pietra Cappa with environmental hiking guide Cillo Aloi, following the loop trail around the monolith. At the end of the hike, the group will return to San Giorgio Castle. The program also includes the presentation of the book “La Capra dell’Aspromonte” by Alfonso Picone Chiodo, dedicated to the breeding and presence of this goat breed in the Aspromonte landscape, as well as a loom workshop. Participants are responsible for bringing their own packed lunch.
